Our most special day

Wait til you hear about our day! Everything seemed normal til we saw all our stuff at the front door. What's it doing there? What's going on??

Pretty soon we were in the fancy hauler and traveling down the road.

After a while we stopped and got out! A very nice lady met us with another greyhound named Mariah, and we all walked around the big beautiful yard!

Then we went in the house and the humans talked while we explored. The nice lady was very sweet to us and patient and gentle. We finally settled down and decided this place was pretty nice!

I was trying to look relaxed

I was trying to look alert.
That's Mariah asleep behind me!

Well, the next thing we knew they took our collars off and put on some new ones! We were staying!! We found our new home, and it's PERFECT!!!

In case you didn't think they were cute ☺

Can that possibly be comfortable??
Chloe's pillow sleep-number must be 100!!

Sherri is simply lovely.... polite, sweet, beautiful.
She knows there's a home waiting for her and Chloe.

Chloe loves Spring!
"Can I stay out a little longer?"

Sherri will be 9 next month and she runs and plays in the yard like a youngster.

Sofa hounds

It's best that fosters not get on sofas and human beds since their eventual home may not allow that and it can be a hard habit to stop once it starts. But, the rules bend a little when hounds have already been in a home and have had that privilege. When Doc isn't on it, Chloe and Sherri love to snuggle on "his" sofa ☺

If it's OK with Doc, it's OK with me. Who could possibly shoo them off??

We're really trying to keep the human bed off-limits, though, since that's more of a social status challenge among dogs. Only Chloe has ventured on the bed, but even that's rare.... and she was graceful about hopping down.

Integration complete :-)

This weekend Chloe and Sherri fully integrated into my pack of 7 hounds - a feat not always managed by even a single foster!

Over a 10 day period, these girls have gradually gone from being just with each other in my separate foster area, to spending closely supervised time indoors and outdoors with my own hounds. Then they began to sleep overnight with my hounds instead of separately. Next they've started staying with my hounds when I leave for work. With each step, they assimilated beautifully.

Sherri and Chloe are very well adjusted and social hounds,
and have mixed perfectly with the rest.

The last step was to begin to eat with my hounds.
That can be a delicate matter because it involves food,
and some dogs are possessive about their food,
especially around strangers.
Nine greyhounds eating together :-0

Calm, not at all pushy, and fully accepted by the others.

Since they are the newbies, they eat last,
and they were good about waiting for their dishes.

They did swap sides for the first meal,
so Sherri got Chloe's fish oil.
They're now back to their usual positions.
I'm so proud of them!!!

Our first M&G

Today was the girls' first visit to a M&G and they were adorable at their first public appearance! They separated now and then to meet people on their own, but generally were sticking pretty close to each other.

Lots of petting... lots of compliments on their soft fur... lots of good wishes... and lots of certainty that they'll find a home together.

Chloe met a small fluffy doggie and had no interest other than to say hi! She is a little iffy on kitty cats so this is good news!

Good job, ladies!!!

Eat, drink and... be greyhound

Sherri and Chloe both have very good appetites - they eat Beneful with some canned food mixed in. They've been eating Beneful for years, are doing very well on it, so there is no reason to change. They always eat from this feeding station with Sherri on the left and Chloe on the right :-))
